JazzMyRide: The journey from a capital of Rs. 10000 to a revenue of Rs. 20 Crores

Sunil Dhingra, Co-founder, JazzMyRide
Sunil Dhingra, Co-founder, JazzMyRide

Sunil Dhingra, a 32 year old chap has studied MBA from Symbiosis, Pune. He has worked for Tata Communications, Infosys and Mahindra Comviva for around 6 years but the comfort of a 9 to 5 job did not sound very appealing to him. He wanted to chase the dream of being an entrepreneur and that sowed the seed of JazzMyRide, an eCommerce portal based in Delhi for car and bike accessories in the year 2012.

Before going for the entrepreneurship venture, he studied the annual report of global players in the industry by approaching 200 stores and 30 recently opened car showrooms in Delhi, NCR and Chandigarh. He proceeded to start JazzMyRide at a basic capital of Rs. 10000 that included designing the website and setting up a few products. There has been no looking back for Sunil ever since.

JazzMyRide has a team of 50 employees and provides more than 1 lakh products in 150 categories with more than 52 brands. The product categories are interior, styling, utility, spare parts, protection, cleaning, bike accessories, riding gears, bike spares, fashion and car audio.

The business model of JazzMyRide includes purchasing inventory from companies and delivering it to customers with the help of third-party logistics. An important milestone for the company has been its tie-up with 10 third party logistic players like Bluedart, Ecom Express, DTDC and Go Javas.

The company also partnered with TVS ASL for online-to-offline (O2O) retailing approach. TVS has invested a total of Rs. 75 Crores in 3 startups and JazzMyRide is one of them.

JazzMyRide did have some challenges at the outset, like product discovery and supply chain. Nonetheless they had a robust technical system with the help of which they developed a great stocking model.

The vision of the company by mid-July is to accomplish the O2O commerce with the help of a franchisee model first in Delhi and Chennai. Later, it would expand to other cities also. By 2018, the company expects to get twice the products, product categories and brands with branches in Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Get over the traditional taboo of sexual health with Cupid Care

Population explosion is a much talked about issue in India. While it has successfully completed its Mars mission, it is still considered to be a matter of embarrassment to buy condom or oral contraceptive pills. Sex and sexual health is still seen as a secretive subject. Despite being an important concern, it remains under covers for no reason at all. Sex education and sexual health are significant topics to talk about. It is researched that 1 in 5 individuals face sexual health problems but they are scared to reveal it.

Get over the traditional taboo of sexual health with Cupid Care 1CupidCare, a startup from Hyderabad initiated by Sriram Varma (Ex-Tracxn and alumni of BITS Goa) and Krishna Teja (Ex-Orbees Medical and alumni of IIT BHU) has attempted to use technology to resolve sexual health issues. This CEO ended India’s mobile technology famine – Torchbearer of the Future

Technology at its Finest

The year 2011 holds a place of great importance for a particular entrepreneur hailing from India. Working up the courage and a solid plan in his New York apartment fuelled his need to realize his entrepreneurial dreams as soon as possible, that too, on his home turf. Finally, he came to India and started a niche web design services company, doodleblue that would go on to give him name and fame.

Atishe Chordia is that young entrepreneur with wheels for feet and wings attached to his dreams, who reached out to grab his share of a bright future. Because, possessing a dedicated clientele spanning 45+ countries globally, is nothing short of magical. Is it not true that hard work pays?

How it all started:

Atishe is a CEO who is equipped with a different set of credentials that other CEOs generally possess. Unlike a traditional business background backed MBA degree, Atishe holds an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Economics & Statistics. He followed that with immediate employment in a New York based software consulting firm as a project manager. This work stint acted as a learning base to know and understand how business works and what should be anticipated.

With a family business waiting to be headed back in India, Atishe chooses to chase his dreams and make them real instead. This is considered a risky proposition according to minds steeped in traditional business but it is a classic example of how taking risk surely pays in abundance.

The Business

The company was named “doodleblue” (with d specifically in small lettering) and was conceptualized by Atishe and his sister Nishyta, the siblings being richly endowed with artistic and creative skills. The services that the company offers today encapsulate end to end need in UI/UX designing, web application development, mobile application development, custom enterprise application development and digital marketing needs.

It is not every day that you get to see niche design service companies grow into a fully functional web and mobile application development company. Eye-catching design solutions, high quality web and mobile apps, repetitive clientele and increasing list of new clients define the success of the company today.

The Contrasting Factor:

Frantic calls and rising tempers are totally out of place in the doodleblue workplace. This is because of an excellent work culture set by Atishe right from his first project. Systematic charting out of weekly and monthly delivery activities, peaceful working and constant communication mark the exemplary work culture of doodleblue.

Surpassing quality of deliverables and happy customers are some things that every company aims at and Atishe makes sure to get that in return. Every city, every country and every continent has scores of companies that provide what clients require from a standard web and mobile apps development company. There are a handful of companies driven by limited capital and unlimited talent that put their life and soul into their work and cover that extra mile to ensure end to end perfection in their deliverables.

A feather on the cap is the R&D department that is constantly buzzing with activity. Atishe stresses on the importance of being updated on the latest technology and find ways to use it in creating optimal solutions for the clients.

These factors are major tie breakers when it comes to understanding why doodleblue is a frontrunner.

Dreaming a bright future…

Strongly believing in action being the foundation for success, Atishe aims at being proactive, by not just being a service provider but also a product developer. With continuous assistance from the internal R&D department, Atishe sees the world through intelligent glasses and smart watches – interactive wearables. Many projects in the company are using latest technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Virtual and Augmented Reality and Optical Character Reader.

Not stopping with focus on the company’s growth alone, Atishe strongly believes in giving something back to the society in all ways possible. Being an active philanthropist, he is involved in all social service related activities. For many CEOs of today who struggle with time management, this CEO has it all figured out!

Humility and unwavering focus is a lethal combination, which when present in the right mix only, brings unending success. Atishe Chordia is one such gifted person who has an ingrained sense of humility. This CEO is someone to look out for, starting today!

Five things you may have missed over the weekend

And when we woke up, we had these bodies. They’re like, except I’m having them! Oh, I think we should just stay friends. You’ll have all the Slurm you can drink when you’re partying with Slurms McKenzie Hey, tell me something. You’ve got all this money. How come you always dress like you’re doing your laundry?

Yes, if you make it look like an electrical fire. When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all. I just want to talk. It has nothing to do with mating. Fry, that doesn’t make sense. Quite possible.

It is nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.

You guys go on without me! I’m going to go look for more stuff to steal! You guys realize you live in a sewer, right? Hey, tell me something. You’ve got all this money. How come you always dress like you’re doing your laundry? If rubbin’ frozen dirt in your crotch is wrong, hey I don’t wanna be right.

Fetal stemcells, aren’t those controversial? You don’t know how to do any of those. What’s with you kids? Every other day it’s food, food, food. Alright, I’ll get you some stupid food. You won’t have time for sleeping.

photo1
Maybe you don’t like your job, maybe you didn’t get enough sleep.

Oh yeah, good luck with that. Hey, tell me something. You’ve got all this money. How come you always dress like you’re doing your laundry? Explain that. Leela, Bender, we’re going grave robbing.

A Bicyclops Built For Two

I love you, buddy! Yep, I remember. They came in last at the Olympics, then retired to promote alcoholic beverages! The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.

  • I saw you with those two “ladies of the evening” at Elzars.

  • For the last time, I don’t like lilacs! Your first wife was the one.

  • But the flesh is spongy and spanac bruised?

Oh, all right, I am. But if anything happens to me, tell them I died robbing some old man. When will that be? Well, take care of yourself, Han. I guess that’s what you’re best at, ain’t it? I don’t know what you’re talking about.

photo2
Progress is a nice word.

Daylight and everything. This is the worst part. The calm before the battle. I saw you with those two “ladies of the evening” at Elzars. Explain that. Leela, Bender, we’re going grave robbing. Who am I making this out to?

It’s nice to just embrace the natural beauty within you. Who am I making this out to? Shut up and get to the point!

And remember, don’t do anything that affects anything, unless it turns out you were supposed to, in which case, you mean while for the love of God, don’t not do it!

Doomsday device? Ah, now the ball’s in Farnsworth’s court! You mean while I’m sleeping in it? Shut up and get to the point!

I’ve got to find a way to escape the horrible ravages of youth. Suddenly, Going to the bathroom like clockwork, every three hours. And those jerks at Social Security stopped sending me checks. Who am I making this out to?

They came in last at the Olympics, then retired to promote alcoholic beverages! I haven’t felt much of anything since my guinea pig died. This is the worst part. The calm before the battle.

photo4
You have to enjoy life. Always be surrounded by people that you like.

Yes, if you make it look like an electrical fire. When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all. Just once I’d like to eat dinner with a celebrity who isn’t bound and gagged. I guess if you want children beaten, you have to do it yourself. Interesting. No, wait, the other thing: tedious.

I haven’t felt much of anything since my guinea pig died. Quite possible. We live long and are celebrated science. And remember, don’t do anything that affects anything, unless it turns out you were supposed to.

photo3
Everyone in this world is somehow connected.

Ah, computer dating. It’s like pimping, but you rarely have to use the phrase “upside your head.” Who am I making this out to?

You mean while I’m sleeping in it? Throw her in the brig. Michelle, I don’t regret this, but I both rue.

Daylight and everything. I just want to talk. It has nothing to do with mating. Fry, that doesn’t make sense. So I really am important? How I feel when I’m drunk is correct?

Good man. Nixon’s pro-war and pro-family. And then the battle’s not so bad? And remember, don’t do anything that affects anything, unless it turns out you were supposed to, in which case, for the love of God, don’t not do it! Shut up and get to the point! Hey, tell me something. You’ve got all this money. How come you always dress like you’re doing your laundry? I’m sure those windmills will keep them cool.

Yes, if you make it look like an electrical fire. When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all. I love you, buddy! Please, Don-Bot look into your hard drive, and open your mercy file! You guys aren’t Santa! You’re not even robots. How dare you lie in front of Jesus? Hey, whatcha watching? That’s right, baby. I ain’t your loverboy Flexo, the guy you love so much. You even love anyone pretending to be him!

Real generosity is doing something nice for someone who will never find out.

Kids have names? That could be beautiful soul sitting naked on a couch. If I could just learn to play this stupid thing. No! I want to live! There are still too many things I don’t own! Yeah, I do that with my stupidness. You can see how I lived before I met you. Do a flip!

Hello Morbo, how’s the family? I’ve been there. My folks were always on me to groom myself and wear underpants. What am I, the pope? I love this planet! I’ve got wealth, fame, and access to the depths of sleaze that those things bring. We’ll need to have a look inside you with this camera.

India's leading travel bloggers Sandeepa and Chetan began their endeavor by selling their house!

Inspiration comes in little packages and the couple, Sandeepa and Chetan is a perfect example for that. Not everyone can give up the monotony of a secure job and salary to chase their dreams. Sandeepa is an Electronics Engineer while Chetan comes with an advertising and design background. They love traveling with a passion so deep that they left their jobs and even sold their house to journey the world. Sandeepa and Chetan love to travel spontaneously without any specific plan in their mind. They prefer public transport and like homestays better for accommodation. Be it mountains, beaches, islands or deserts, they love it all. When it comes to a big tourist destination, their most loved thing is tiny lanes. Their relatives had varied reactions like “This is amazing. Go for it!” and “What is wrong with you?” These reactions could not belittle their passion for traveling and everyone around them supported them after they realized their seriousness to do this.

They were attracted to each other for the love of travel and nature. For the very first time, they traveled to Coorg in the Western Ghats of India. Their journey included staying in homestays, going on treks and forestwalks with safaris. Overall, they had a wonderful time together.

They have been to every place in India, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. The most interesting part of traveling together is that they can always be with each other. However, with the pros come some cons too. When they had goone to Patagonia, they had a fight because of the exhaustion of non-stop travel and financial constraints. Nonetheless, such petty matters have not stopped them. They have traveled 8 countries together and are looking forward to travel even more. They wish to explore each and every corner of the world. People may call it crazy but that has brought them laurels that people crave for.

Besides traveling, they also pursue photography and their photographs have got featured in publications like National Geographic.

Not only pictures, they have a huge collection of beautiful memories, sweet and funny experiences and knowledge about different cultures.

A Ramadan App developed by a Sikh Engineer reached more than 5 lakh downloads!

We live in a world divided by borders and religions. Amidst that inequality, there is a 27 year old mechatronics engineer Kuldeep Singh Saini who developed Ramadan App that helps in knowing the direction of prayer, meal after sunset – iftar, meal before dawn – sehri and prayer timings. What is more intriguing is the fact that it has been installed more than half-a-million times.

Kuldeep Singh Saini is basically from Ahmedabad and has studied in Ganpat University. Once he graduated, he aspired to study design at National Institute of Design. However, he could not make it though he reached the last round of admission procedure two times. Later, he went on to seek a job in mechanical companies but failed in that too. He was attracted to app development during the same period. He was not well versed with coding and was keen on the designing of apps. His brother who has an app development company named App Aspect in Ahmedabad taught coding to Kuldeep. He began his journey with basic utility app development for Android and iOS.

Ramadan 2016

Ramadan 2016

Kuldeep had always been fascinated by the sincerity of the workers at his father’s garage during Ramadan, the Holy Islam festival. He had a desire to simplify it for them. It was in the year 2015 that he started working on a Ramadan App. At the initial stage, he researched religious practices by speaking to the workers in his father’s garage. User Interface and User Experience took him 2 months and the actual coding was completed in the next two months. He launched the app on Google Playstore on 10th May 2015. On the very first day of the fast, he got 53,000 downloads.

  Details about the app

The App included the 2016 Ramadan calendar, namaz prayer times, Qibla Compass, Asma-Al-Husna (99 names of Allah), hijri (Islamic Calendar), hijri date converter, Ramadan duas as well as the sehri and iftar timing. It also allows the user to set alarm for the prayer time.

The app has received immense appreciation from the users and has an ad-free PRO version at Rs. 99. Kuldeep is presently working on a heart-rate monitor, QR code scanner and some other utility apps. Kuldeep aspires to have his own app development company and use technology to resolve the caste differences.

One Wallet , a first of its kind application that lets one pay their newspaper bills online, allows vendors to manage their customers and process all their transactions online has proven to be a boon for newspaper vendors in India. Apart from seeking a leading position in the industry, One Wallet is well on its way to make an impact so big that it forever changes the way the newspaper industry works. It strives to digitize the otherwise conservative industry and provides a common platform for management, automated bill generation and payment collection to the vendors. With the launch of the application in November 2015, for the first time in over 2 centuries of the industry’s history, vendors are equipped with technology and are collecting their bills online.

Founder and CEO One Wallet - Neeraj Tiwari

Founder and CEO One Wallet – Neeraj Tiwari

Mr. Neeraj Tiwari, the founder of One Wallet has always been fascinated with technology and wanted to use technology for the benefit of the overburdened unorganized businesses. He was struck with the idea of developing One Wallet Newspaper app when he found his newspaper vendor at his doorstep as late as 9:30 PM for bill collection. He was determined to do something for the benefit of such businesses by giving them access to technology and helping them adapt to it. Further, through One Wallet’s in-house research, he found that around Rs. 5000 crore worth of bills are distributed and collected manually by 6 lakhs newspaper vendors in India.

Since the launch of the app in November 2015, 1500 vendors are registered with the application and around 50,000 households are connected to pay their bills online. The application once installed on the newspaper vendor’s mobile phone generates bills automatically within seconds, which earlier use to take around 15-20 days to reach his customers. As soon as the bill is generated it is sent to customer’s android Smartphone, through SMS, email and consumer application to facilitate online bill payment. In this digital age, the application aims to minimize vendor’s paperwork and helps them run their business and expand. One Wallet has tied up with 134+ newspaper publishers to procure paper prices and also provide important updates to the vendors. The vendors would no more have to keep a track of all the prices of the newspapers manually.

Team One Wallet

Team One Wallet

By December 2016, One Wallet aims to connect with 50000+ newspaper vendors. Realizing that this is the best time for fresh and radical thinking, they have secured a patent to digitize the coupon subscription system and are in a process to launch the same in the next 2 months. Through this feature, the vendors can avoid the frequent losses incurred by them through loss of physical coupons. The vendors won’t have to visit the publisher’s office to encash the coupons. Processing of coupons will be done online, thus saving time and energy of the vendors to a great extent. The coupon delivery and coupon payment time will be reduced to 5 minutes and 24 hours respectively. They are currently operating in Mumbai and intend to cover the entire state of Maharashtra by July 2016.

In the current millennials driven ‘Startup’ era One Wallet seems to do something that others have not even thought of. With such vast unorganized market left untapped, it looks like they are heading in the right direction.

Not just another start –up. This one, is set to bring a change in our education system!

“Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and the youth.” These words by our great Indian philosopher Chanakya, stand true even today. India has always been a country where the teacher is considered to be at the highest grade and given the utmost respect. We are a country that worships our gurus. However, in the recent times, there has been a rising issue of shortage of faculty across the country. From schools, to colleges and post-graduation institutes, all are facing an acute shortage of competent teachers that can teach the students of a progressive India. Even the premier most institutes face an acute shortage of competent industry ready faculty.

A recent example of how this issue is hampering education in our country is that Mumbai University eliminated the course of Rural Marketing from its syllabus and one of the reasons was acute shortage of faculty who can teach that subject. Now, if you ask a marketing professional how important is the knowledge of rural marketing in today’s time, the most common answer would be that it’s of utmost importance and that’s because the urban markets are saturated and most innovative products are now made to woo the rural audiences.

Facultyconnect Team

Facultyconnect Team

Considering that this as a highly alarming fact, facultyconnect.co.in/”>FacultyConnect  is a start-up company that stepped up and started their operations in March 2016. The young and vibrant co-founders Mr. Hersh, an MBA from IMT Ghaziabad and Mr. Faiz an MBA from IIM-Indore, apart from hailing from a finance background, they also share extreme passion for teaching. They decided to provide this platform that bridges the gap between the Institutes and the Faculties.

The company is currently based out of Mumbai, with over 1000 competent faculties that have tied up with them and 50+ premier institutes that source their faculty requirements through this platform. Their aspiration, as they say, is to ‘augment the quality of pedagogy in Indian education system today, by becoming a medium to link best-in-class Faculty to Institutes and bridge the gap between classroom education and practical application.’

Co-founder Mr. Hersh, who is also an economics professor at a premiere Institute in Mumbai, said, “We started FC (FacultyConnect) as there was a clear gap between what the students want, what the professors deliver and what the industry expects. As a professor, Hersh always came across this mismatch of demands and that’s exactly where the thought of FC came into mind. Hersh and Faiz, who is also the co-founder of FC, used to do this at a very micro level, even before FC was initiated. But, we realized that things have to be taken to a macro level in order to solve this national issue of acute shortage of competent faculties. We believe in the whole purpose of education, which is to turn mirrors into windows, as said by the great Sydney J. Harris.

He adds, “We have received an overwhelming response from the industry and we look forward to expanding our operations to other metro cities such as Delhi and Pune by the end of this year.”

Also, we look forward to being the sole medium through which we can educate, facilitate and connect the most sought-after faculties to the best Institutes in order to improve the quality of teaching in our country.”

Something’s rotten in India’s startup scene

Though there are thousands of startups and hundreds getting funded and countless people online to create in digital market and flourishing startup echo system of India, Sharad Sharma is not happy. Sharad Sharma is earliest startup mentor who is also most respected in Indian tech industry. He is also angle investor active with two dozen of investment and co-founder of ISPIRIT the Indian Software Production Industry Round- Table. ISPIRIT held a closed door retreat called Product Nation Growth – PNGrowth for 200 selected startups to see if these startups are prospective enough to become leaders in their class either in domestic market or global and if they could be a forte aimed at SaaS solution or even a cloud based customer support kit. It was a real painful process. The entrepreneurs had to deal with unnerving question from peers and co-hosts of the program, the professors from Duke University and Stanford University.

Nobody in the echo system actually calls a startup a prospective failure. The VCs politely tell them to come again when they have more footing and the mentors are poorly qualified to assess, said Sharad. PNGRowth with volunteers from iSPIRIT and grants Universities was free and it showed an unvarnished mirror of startups which was not gratifying though the startups who attended represented the cream of Indian startup scene. Sharad expected at least 60 out of 200 startups to come up to expectation but it was only 14 which is clearly shows that we are creating quantity but not quality. The sad part is the rest who are not up to the mark do not even know it and are only wasting precious time .the only persons benefited are test prep centers. This situation does not solve the country’s economic issue. The Ecosystem needs to have minimum success levels to get escape velocity which does not seem possible by the result seen in retreat even conducted in Mysore.

Flo- The thermometer that is so exciting that you would wish to have fever

Checking the temperature specially in a child is often difficult and sometimes clumsy. We do this using thermometer, cramming this plastic or metal tube under the tongue or armpit. In olden days there was a better method, one could tell just by placing the hand on the forehead whether one has fever or not. So in order to avoid the clumsy procedure and help people of fever dilemma in simple method, Flo – a Hong Kong startup aims to bring together the accuracy of infra-red thermometer and casual and easy use of smart phone. As per Kick starter’s indication, they are tapping into something big. According to Founder of Flo Eddie Cheung, the philosophy of the design was to make the instrument convenient and simple as possible as smart must mean more than just data sharing on phone.
thermometer-that-is-so-exciting-that-you-would-wish-to-have-fever-01.jpg”>Flo- The thermometer that is so exciting that you would wish to have fever 1A team of Flo tried other smart thermometers available and found that many were large science devices that do not work without smart phones. Flo is smart thermometer that gives feedback even without phone, is wireless and gives the impression of an attractive colorful keychain. It is not right to call it a digital thermometer because there are no digits on it. Using it is the simplest thing. One has to just point Flo at the fore head of a person and the light on the gadget will flash red if the person has fever and green if the person is normal and white if the person is bit cold. If user wants specific temperature information they can get it on their smart phones or apple watches connected to Flo. This is very helpful to check temperature over time. Flo is devised for people who have to take temperatures often, specifically the new parents, caregivers and elderly people but it does not stop curious adults in tracking temperatures and what more it can read temperatures aloud.

Vdeliver.in – a startup that is changing the methodology of delivery

The easy access to and popularity of the internet has changed the way we do things. Right from shopping to education and even healthcare, the internet can be found everywhere. In the right manner it has turned the world into a global village and enabled the different business owners in reaching a larger audience. The rise in global ecommerce sales is recorded at 25% in the last quarter of 2015. This in turn has fueled a large number of logistics startups across the globe.

Vdeliver Team

Vdeliver Team

According to the researches conducted by eMarketer (a market research firm) consumers all over world have spent about $1.672 trillion online in 2015. This amount equals almost 7.3% of the overall retail sales all over the world. The research also says the online retail sales will be double that in the year 2019.

However, there is one problem with the online shopping which is that there are no logistics companies that undertake the delivery of anything and everything. Customers are not able to gauge the severity of the problem if they get the deliveries on time, but online retailers find it quite difficult to tie up with different logistics firms.

Mr. Hemachandra Reddy and Srinivas Madhavam rightly identified this problem. This happened when a food delivery customer asked Srinivas if he could get a designer wear from a fashion designer delivered urgently. This was the vacuum that Srinivas found in the local logistics space and ensured that she helped her customer by getting the dress delivered at a charge of Rs.300.

This in turn gave birth to the logistics startup Vdeliver which was initially only meant for food delivery. However, when Srinivas realised that there was a demand in the logistics area as well, he and his engineer friend Hemachandra converted Vdeliver into a fully integrated system of delivering anything that is legal.

The concept of Vdeliver is based on intercity logistics. Their delivery times are between 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM and they deliver anything that is not restricted by the government anywhere in the city of Hyderabad. The customers can place an order either on the official website or on the app which can be downloaded from Android playstore. The business customers get an API and back end admin Panel to ensure seamless deliveries on time.

You can win the stock market with TAURO Wealth

Retail investors or new starters in stock market have to spend lot of time to study and investigate before investing, and still have disadvantages over big investors. This is especially hard for new investors as they may not know much about shares and trading and have more chances of losing money than winning. They also have to lose to big investors who have their own tools that are highly analytical and handle big data. Even a small mistake would lead to huge loses. While high end technology is accessed by large financial institutions to make investment decision in stock market, small investors fear trading and investing due to high risk of losing.
